Access ABA Services in School
House Bill 22-1260 was introduced and passed to improve access to behavioral health services, including ABA therapy, in Colorado's public schools. The bill allows Behavior Analysts to deliver ABA therapy in school settings, something that was not previously permitted. Importantly, it also establishes a framework for parents and schools to work together to ensure students with disabilities can benefit from these services during the school day and does NOT cost the school any money.
Benefits of Accessing ABA Services in Schools
-
Improved Learning Outcomes: ABA services can support your child’s ability to focus, learn, and manage behaviors in a classroom environment.
-
Increased Social Skills: By working on social and communication skills in a school setting, ABA can help your child build relationships with peers and teachers.
-
Reduction of Challenging Behaviors: ABA therapists can work with your child to reduce behaviors that interfere with learning, leading to a more positive school experience.
-
Consistency Across Environments: Having ABA services in school ensures consistency in behavior management strategies, which is crucial for children with ASD.
