Leah Dickey

MS

My name is Leah Dickey and I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I come from a large, diverse family who I am very close to. Initially, I started working with adults with special needs. I was a camp counselor at a summer camp for adults with special needs for a few summers during college. I loved my time there and I fell in love with working with this population. I have been working with this population since I was 19 and I could not imagine doing anything else.

I moved to Colorado in 2017 and was working as a direct support professional for a while. I loved it, but I started to want to work more with children, but was a little aimless unsure of what exactly to do. I got into ABA in the summer of 2020 and decided that was where my interests lied more. I started working at a school for kids aged 5-21. I primarily worked with the older kiddos but started to find I was more interested in early intervention. I finished my Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis in March of 2024 and finished my hours and passed the exam a year later. I have a huge passion for working with people with special needs and want to continue making a difference.

When I am not working, I enjoy painting, hiking, cooking, and spending time with my loved ones. I enjoy traveling, primarily anywhere with an ocean. I enjoy spending my time outdoors, especially in the mountains which is part of the reason I came to Colorado to begin with. Spending time away disconnected from the city and more connected with nature is what helps me reset and practice self care.
